About Us

Byte Laptop Repairs and Byte Service Centre are the brainchild of Neil Paulley, their director and chief technician.

Neil has always been engineering-minded, which is why he sought practical roles on leaving school and found a machine operator role with respected local engineering firm, GW Martin.  Whilst there, and with machines becoming ever more computer-controlled, Neil went back to college part-time to put himself through a BTEC qualification in Information Technology.  This led to a role as a Computer Technician with another local business for 5 years, before taking up a director role with another for a further 3 years.  Both of these roles gave Neil practical experience of computer engineering, both hardware and software problems, networking, data-recovery and IT security.

Neil decided to take the plunge and launch Byte Laptop Repairs and Byte Service Centre in May 2009, and hasn’t looked back!  He loves the freedom and the challenge that running your own business can bring but, mostly, he loves being useful to people.  As we all become ever more reliant on our technology, Neil enjoys being able to solve problems for people – which he puts down to his engineering background.

In order to stay on top of the rapid developments his industry sees, Neil takes care to attend continuing professional development events and workshops whenever he can.  Becoming a Dell Technology Partner and a Microsoft Cloud Solutions Partner also mean he receives regular updates from them, as well as being worthy accreditations to back up Neil’s technical acumen.

In his spare time, Neil does enjoy gaming (a bit of a busman’s holiday!) and has a bit of passion for cars, visiting the Festival of Speed and similar events whenever he can.

The Byte Laptop Repairs workshop and Byte Service Centre office is based a short distance from Neil’s home in Eastleigh.
